New Delhi:

Former Indian Hockey skipper Sandeep Singh on Thursday joined the glittering list of celebrities to have a wax statue installed at the Jaipur Wax Museum. Singh, an icon of Indian Hockey, along with his family members, unveiled the statue at the wax museum in Nahargarh fort in Jaipur, said founder and director of the museum, Anoop Srivastava.

“His life is an inspiration for many Indians. Bollywood has also depicted his life on reel. His statue would be an added attraction at the museum,” Srivastava said.

Sandeep Singh was left almost paralysed after being accidentally shot by an Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel inside the Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express back in 2006.

The accidentally shot bullet not only fractured his lower rib, but also damaged his kidneys, liver and spine, resulting to paralysis.

However, Singh made a magical comeback to the Indian Hockey national team after a gap of around two years before getting the captain’s armband in 2009.

Recently, a Bollywood movie named ‘Soorma’, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Tapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi, based on the life of Sandeep Singh was released. Soorma was directed by Shaad Ali and did good business in the box office.
