India went down 2-3 against Argentina in the opening match of the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament in Ipoh Malaysia on Saturday. The rain-interrupted match saw star drag-flicker Gonzalo Peillat scoring a hattrick for the Olympic Champions Argentina.

Amit Rohidas gave some hope to the Indian team with his penalty corners but in the end, Gonzalo scored his hattrick to get his team three crucial points. The Indian team was down to ten men in the last five minutes of the game as Sumit was given a yellow card by the referee.

Sardar Singh led team will now take on defending champions England in their second match on Sunday. Australia, Malaysia and Ireland are the other teams participating in the 27th edition of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

The absence of several key players like SV Sunil, Mandeep Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Manpreet Singh and goalkeeper PR Sreejesh have seen a young team taking the charge at the arena.
