India inflicted a crushing defeat on New Zealand to secure their first win in the ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament being played at Malaysia on Sunday. Harmanpreet Singh scored two goals while Mandeep Singh found the back of the net once to help India seal three points.

Mandeep Singh opened India's account in the 24th minute by deflecting Chinglensana Singh's hit. Harmanpreet then extended India's lead as they went into the half-time with a 2-0 scoreline.

India was held to a draw by Great Britain in their opening match of the tournament on Saturday. Unbeaten in the tournament so far, India is now scheduled to take on World Champions Australia in their next group encounter.
