Jaipur:

Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered the fourth-straight loss in the ongoing season after losing against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore could only manage to put 158 runs on the board with Shreyas Gopal’s heroic performance of 3/12.

In response, Rajasthan Royals openers Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler hammered opposition bowlers all around the ground, eventually registering another 50 plus run stand. Post this, the team continued the momentum even when they lost Rahane, Buttler, and Smith, registering a seven-wicket win over RCB.

In the post-match press conference, the coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Ashish Nehra addressed the areas of improvement for the team and reasons why they are ending up on the losing side.

When asked, what impact did it make on the team after losing Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in quick succession?

“Well, you have to give credit to Shreyas Gopal, he bowled really well to put pressure on us. However, even then, reaching close to 160 was a big effort from the team. There will always be a say that a team was 10-15 runs short if you end up being on the losing side, but if we would have won, no one would have ever pointed this out.”

RCB dropped a total of three catches which was seen one of the pivotal reasons for their loss. On this Nehra said, “In this format, if you will drop 2-3 catches, you will end up being on the receiving end. But particularly in this game, we were nowhere near to what we are capable of producing.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be up against Kolkata Knight Riders for their next game which is scheduled to be played at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. This remains to be seen if the change in venue can change RCB’s fortunes.
