The tall and lanky shuttler was in all conquering mode against right from the beginning of the match. Pantawane known more for her doubles game gave Sindhu a tough competition in the opening game but Sindhu overpowered her in the second set to seal the match and book her place in the second round.

The encounter lasted 35 minutes.Sania dominated her Chinese opponent right from the start, not letting Chia Hsin get a hold of the match. The Chinese shuttler gave a tough fight in the second game but Nehwal used all her experience and skill to close the match in straight sets.
