Debutants UP Yoddha started their season on a winning note by defeating Telugu Titans on Tuesday. The Nitin Tomar-led UP team put up a spectacular performance as they registered a thumping 31-18 win over Titans, making their third defeat on the trot. Tomar, who fetched the maximum amount in the auction proved his worth with a stellar performance.
Rishank Divadiga was impressive with his raids. Rahul Chaudhari, who looked comfortable in the first half, was not allowed to steal points as UP’s defence stood rock solid. After a win in their season opener, UP Yoddha have a four-day gap before they face Rohit Kumar-led Bengaluru Bulls.
It was indeed a day for the debutants as Gujarat Fortunegiants also got off to a winning start by securing an impressive win over Dabang Delhi 26-20. In a match that promised to be a battle of the equals, Delhi-team was completely outplayed by the debutants. With two Iranians on both side of the mat, Fazel Atrachali and Abozar Mohajermighani were the standouts against Meeraj Sheykh and Abolfazel Maghsodlo.
