New Delhi:

Second seed Simona Halep didn't ensure any further casualties of top seeds at Wimbledon as she defeated China’s Peng Shuai with a clinical 6-4 7-6(7) clinical win.

The 25-year-old Romanian produced some scintillating groundstrokes to overpower her opponent from the baseline, clipping the lines with her thundering forehands.

Five-time champion Venus Williams beat Japan’s Naomi Osaka 7-6(3) 6-4 to reach the last sixteen at Wimbledon for the 15th time. Meanwhile, French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko needed an hour and 20 minutes to see off Italian Camila Giorgi 7-5 7-5 in the third round.
