Harmanpreet Kaur's Indian cricket team started the ICC Women's World T20 with a bang as they defeated defending champions Australia by 17 runs. This was India's second consecutive win in the ICC Women's World T20 against Australia, having defeated them in the 2018 edition in the West Indies at the Providence stadium in Guyana. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave India a good start but a slight collapse in the middle overs saw the scoring rate dip. Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues shared a 53-run stand for the fourth wicket and Deepti Sharma also shared a stand of 32 with Veda Krishnamurthy as Indian women's cricket team reached a good score. In response, Poonam Yadav took 4/19 and she was well assisted by Shikha Pandey and Rajeshwari Gayakwad as India took wickets at regular intervals and ran through the powerful Australian batting order.
India next take on Bangladesh and they have a superb record against them. Bangladesh are playing in the ICC Women's World T20 for only the fourth time and they have only had success once, which was against Sri Lanka in their inaugural edition in 2014. Apart from that, there is nothing much to cheer for the Bangladesh women's cricket team, who have underachieved so far.

T20 World Cup history (India)
India failed to go past the semi-finals stage in three editions in 2009, 2010 and 2018 out of the six so far. In their 2018 campaign, the team reached the semi-finals beating heavyweights New Zealand and eventual champions Australia but they lost against England. However, following their win against defending champions Australia in Sydney, India look good to register their maiden win in the ICC Women's World T20.
T20 World Cup history (Bangladesh)
Bangladesh did not participate in the 2009,2010 and 2012 editions of the Women's World T20 and they made their debut in the 2014 tournament held at home. In that edition, the tournament expanded from eight to 10 teams. Bangladesh lost to West Indies, India and England but they defeated Sri Lanka by three runs. In 2016 and 2018, Bangladesh lost all their games but they have made a big statement heading into the clash against India as they defeated Pakistan in the warm-up games.

Prediction: With India having beaten defending champions Australia in Sydney, they head into the clash against Bangladesh high on confidence. With the bowling, especially of Poonam Yadav, Shikha Pandey and Rajeshwari Gayakwad in top form, India hold all the aces. For the Bangladesh cricket team, their poor record against India and the lack of success in the big tournaments will go against them.
