The Indian cricket team is setting a new benchmark when it comes to dominance at home. Virat Kohli's Indian cricket team have currently won 13 consecutive series stretching back to 2012. The Indian cricket team currently have batsmen and bowlers who are dominating the ICC rankings in many facets. In the ongoing World Test Championship, India are miles ahead than any opposition as they continue their dominance in grand style. In the ongoing home season, they have whitewashed South Africa and dominated Bangladesh in Indore. However, there is one stat that has established their dominance.
The Indian cricket team, during the course of the South Africa Tests and the game in Indore, have established a new world record which no other team has ever managed. The team has now scored a double century in four consecutive Tests, thus creating a new statistical milestone in Test cricket.
In the Vizag Test against South Africa, Mayank Agarwal notched up his maiden double ton when he smashed 215 and shared a 317-run record opening stand for India against South Africa. Virat Kohli broke plenty of records in the Pune Test when he smashed 254. This was Kohli's seventh double ton and it was the most by an Indian. This was his 10th 150+ score and ninth as captain, breaking Sir Don Bradman's record. Amidst this, he went past 7000 runs in Tests and 1000 in Tests against South Africa. In Ranchi, there was no let-up in the batting dominance as Rohit Sharma notched up his maiden double ton in a sheer exhibition of brute strength.
In the Test against Bangladesh at Indore, Agarwal once again stamped his authority with his second double ton. The knock included 28 fours and eight sixes and he equalled Navjot Singh Sidhu's record of most sixes in an innings by an Indian player. Sidhu had achieved the feat against Sri Lanka in Lucknow in 1994 and Agarwal's 243 was the second-highest individual score by an Indian in Tests against Bangladesh, just behind Sachin Tendulkar's 248 in 2004 in Chattogram.
The Indian cricket team are riding the high wave of success with some brilliant batting and superb exhibition of pace and spin bowling. It is no wonder that India creates records each and every time they enter the playing field for Tests.
