Jason Holder has led from the front when it comes to batting and bowling in Test matches for the last couple of years for the West Indies. In 2018, he became the first West Indies all-rounder since Sir Garfield Sobers to occupy the top spot in the rankings for all-rounders. In the 2019 Test against India at Sabina Park, Holder entered the history books yet again and he once again broke Sobers' mark during a sensational spell of bowling in the first innings. Holder has already scored over 1800 runs but in the first innings, he picked up five wickets to reach 100 wickets.
After he took the wicket of Hanuma Vihari for 111, Holder took his sixth five-wicket haul and he also took his 100th Test wicket which put him in an elite list. Holder achieved the feat in just his 39th Test and it made him the quickest to achieve the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets.
Holder's achievement was nine Tests quicker than Sobers, who had achieved this in the 48th Test match. Malcolm Marshall also smashed 1000 runs and took 100 wickets by the time he had played his 49th Test. The haul of 5/77 for Holder continued his love affair with Sabina Park as he achieved his third consecutive fifer at the venue. In the 2018 Test against Bangladesh, Holder took 5/44 and 6/59 as West Indies won the match by 166 runs.

Holder was the pick of the bowlers on a deck assisting the pacers at Kingston. The West Indies skipper got the wicket of KL Rahul cheaply and he broke the stubborn stand between Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli by getting rid of Agarwal for 55. Holder then got his Indian counterpart Kohli out for 76 and on day 2, he got the wickets of Rishabh Pant for 27 and Vihari to achieve history. However, the Windies skipper could not contribute with the bat as he fell for 18 playing a rash shot to Jasprit Bumrah.

West Indies trail by 329 runs and they face an uphill task to save the Jamaica Test. The hosts are currently trailing the two-match series 0-1 after losing the Antigua Test by 318 runs, their biggest loss to India in terms of runs.
