Madame Tussauds: Legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev unveils his wax statue

India’s 1983 world cup winning captain Kapil Dev on Thursday unveiled his wax statue at Madame Tussauds in New Delhi. Kapil’s wax figure has been unveiled among other sporting icons in a specially dedicated area where fans will have an unique chance to test their cricket skills.

One of the greatest all-rounders in cricketing history, Kapil had led India to the historic World Cup triumph in 1983 and a 2-0 Test series victory against England in 1986 on their home turf.

Kapil Dev has been the best all-rounder and greatest cricketer to ever represent India. Along with Imran Khan, Sir Ian Botham and Sir Richard Hadlee he was one of the best fast-bowling all rounder of his generation. 

For a long period of time, Kapil was India’s highest wicket taker in test matches with 431 wickets, a number that also briefly made him the highest wicket-taker of all time. He was one of the lynchpins of India's batting too during his time and his 175 against Zimbabwe during the 1983 World Cup is one of the best ODI innings till date.

His legendary catch of Sir Vivian Richards in the finals of the cricket World Cup 1983, led India to an inspiring victory against the two-time winners and defending champions, the invincible West Indies.  

The Madame Tussauds in New Delhi is an attraction which portrays the majestic world of celebrated personalities, sportspersons, historical and political personalities through planned themes and interactive areas. 

Madame Tussauds is one of London’s largest tourist attractions. It is an interactive wax museum and has 23 branches across the world. The New Delhi Museum at the famous Regal Cinema in Delhi’s Connaught Place is the 23rd.
