It is to be noted that the Kargil War was an armed conflict that was fought between India and Pakistan and took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC). The Kargil war, which began in May 1999, lasted for more than two months before Pakistani soldiers lost to the Indian troops.
The Pakistani soldiers released the mountain tops they had captured overlooking the Srinagar-Leh highway. Unfortunately, in the conflict, the Indian Army lost over 500 jawans.
