Mayank Agarwal blasted 243 as India lead by 343 runs at the end of day 2 of the Indore Test against Bangladesh.

New Delhi:

When one talks about Test pitches in India during the early 90s, the template would be set in this way. The pacers would bowl just a couple of overs to take the shine off the new ball and the spinners would do the bulk of the work. In 2019, in Virat Kohli's time, this does not hold true. In India's 13 series dominance at home since 2012, the pacers have laid the template for taking the bulk of the wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have continuously probed away. In Indore, the dominance of the pacers was exhibited in grand style and Bangladesh felt the wrath of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma as they were razed out for 150 on the opening day of the Indore Test against India at the Holkar stadium on Thursday.

17:02 hrs IST: That is stumps on day 2. Safe to say, India are on top and Bangladesh are all but out of the Test barring a miracle. Mayank Agarwal the star with 243 and fifties from Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane have put India in a dominant position.

16:55 hrs IST: FIFTY! 13th half century for Ravindra Jadeja and out come the sword like celebration. He has been brilliant in the lower order as always. Umesh Yadav continues to hit sixes for fun and India are 482/6, lead by 332 runs.

16:42 hrs IST: WICKET! Ebadot does a Sheldon Cottrell like salute! He bowls a good length ball and it nips away, Saha plays down the wrong line, the ball hits the back pad and the off stump goes for a walk. India are 454/6, lead by 304 runs.

16:35 hrs IST: Jadeja clobbers another six off Mehidy Hasan and Saha gets India's lead to 300 by late-cutting the bowler to the third man fence. India are 450/5, lead by 300 runs.

16:25 hrs IST: WICKET! Mayank's epic knock has ended. Flighted ball on leg stump, Mayank looked to slog sweep the ball but it takes a brilliant catch from Abu Jayed near the boundary at deep midwicket to end his knock for 243. Brilliant innings and he gets a standing ovation. India are 432/5, leading by 282 runs.

16:18 hrs IST: Jadeja and Agarwal are dealing only in sixes at this point in time. The partnership has gone past 100 and India are 414/4, leading by 268 runs.

16:08 hrs IST: Agarwal notches up his highest individual score in Tests and he registers the highest score at the venue as well, beating Virat Kohli's record of 211 which he hit in the New Zealand Test in 2016. India are 384/4, leading by 234 runs.

15:51 hrs IST: DOUBLE CENTURY! What a moment for Mayank Agarwal and he shows that he has traits of Virender Sehwag as he notches up his milestone with a six off Mehidy Hasan. Dances down the track and deposits it over deep midwicket for a massive hit. Take a bow, Mayank. India are 365/4, lead by 215 runs.

15:45 hrs IST: Agarwal nears his double ton with a four off Ebadot Hossain and India's lead has crossed 200. India are 359/4, lead by 209.

14:49 hrs IST: WICKET! Abu Jayed gets his fourth wicket and Rahane will be disappointed with his dismissal. Full ball outside off, Rahane goes for the drive and holes out to Taijul Islam at deep point. India are 315/4, lead by 165 runs.

14:16 hrs IST: Mayank Agarwal leads Bangladesh by six runs. His 156*, combined with his stand with Ajinkya Rahane have helped India cross 300 and the lead is also over 150.

14:00 hrs IST: The second new ball has been taken and Ajinkya Rahane lifts Abu Jayed for a boundary to square third man. India have crossed 300 and the lead is also past 150. India 301/3, lead by 151 runs.

13:45 hrs IST: Agarwal notches up his 150 in grand style as he whips Taijul Islam to the deep midwicket fence for a boundary. Rahane is also looking good for his century as India's lead nears 150.

13:42 hrs IST: Two massive sixes by Agarwal, one of Taijul and another of Mehidy Hasan. The one of Mehidy disappears out of the stadium. India's lead is now well over 100 and the partnership has crossed 150. Nothing seems to be stopping Agarwal as he is on 146. India 273/3, lead by 123 runs.

13:16 hrs IST: The partnership between Rahane and Agarwal is punishing Bangladesh. They are struggling to break the stand as the lead nears 100. India are 235/3, lead by 85 runs.

13:00 hrs IST: 21st fifty for Ajinkya Rahane and he gets there with a flick of Abu Jayed. The partnership between him and Agarwal has gone past 100 and India are in a strong position. They lead by 75 runs.

12:36 hrs IST: CENTURY! Take a bow, Mayank Agarwal. He notches up his third century with a tuck off Ebadot Hossain for a couple. He is absolutely jubilant. India are 207/3, lead by 57 runs.

12:24 hrs IST: Agarwal pulls Mehidy Hasan to the deep midwicket fence to near his century. He is timing the ball beautifully but he cannot penetrate the gap. India 195/3, lead by 45 runs.

11:34 hrs IST: Agarwal nears a century and that is lunch on day 2. India are leading by 38 runs and they will be aiming to take a big lead by the end of the day's play.

11:13 hrs IST: Agarwal is given out by umpire Marais Erasmus as he misses a sweep. He reviews and replays show that there was no bat involved. The only thing that could have saved him was the ball not hitting the stumps and luckily, Hawkeye confirms that the ball was missing leg stump. Agarwal heaves a big sigh of relief and India are 176/3, leading by 24 runs.

10:50 hrs IST: Agarwal jumps down the track and lofts Mehidy Hasan effortlessly to the long off fence for a boundary. India have now taken the lead against Bangladesh. India are 152/3, lead by two runs.

10:28 hrs IST: Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane are looking in great touch as they find the boundary on a regular basis. India are almost close to wiping out the deficit and they are 138/3, still trailing by 12 runs.

10:03 hrs IST: WICKET! Massive moment in the game. Abu Jayed, you legend! What a strike and Indore has been silenced. Good length ball outside off and it darts back in off the deck, Kohli plays inside the line of the delivery and gets hit on the back pad, Bangladesh appeal and the umpire does not give it. They go for the review. It is hitting leg stump and Kohli is gone for a silver duck. India 119/3, trailing by 31 runs.

09:56 hrs IST: FIFTY! Superb stuff from Mayank Agarwal and he notches up his fourth fifty. He pulls Ebadot Hossain to the deep midwicket fence and he continues his great form. India are 114/2, trailing by 36 runs.
