In 2019, just before the ICC Cricket World Cup, Virat Kohli's Indian cricket team were dominating the first two games and it seemed Australia's misery of 2018 would be prolonged. However, MS Dhoni was rested. Australia staged a spectacular comeback and won the series 3-2 for what was their first series win in India in over a decade. The series win in India, coming on the back of their first-ever Twenty20 series win in the country, laid the foundation for Australia's renaissance. They entered the semi-final of the World Cup, drew the Ashes in England but retained the Urn and have dominated the home summer with big wins against Pakistan and New Zealand.

This was the first time since 2005 that India have lost a home ODI by this margin and it was against South Africa at Kolkata. The partnership of 258 is the highest stand for any wicket in ODIs against India. What dominance.

18:22 hrs IST: David Warner slams a boundary off Bumrah and he has become the fastest Australian to go past 5000 runs in ODIs. Australia are 46/0 after seven overs.
18:18 hrs IST: Action packed over from Shardul Thakur. He appeals for a caught behind and the umpire gives it out. David Warner, with one second to go, reviews and replays show that there is a flat line and no edge. Australia 37/0 after six overs.
18:04 hrs IST: Finch is showing his class and he is taking on Bumrah. He drives an inswinger to deep extra cover and then carves a full ball past backward point. 10 runs in the over and Australia are 25/0 after four overs.
17:56 hrs IST: Jasprit Bumrah gets this good length ball to come back in off the deck and the extra bounce is just enough to miss the off stump. Finch left that alone on length and Australia are 8/0 after two overs.
17:51 hrs IST: Aaron Finch gets off the mark in style as he drills a full ball from Mohammed Shami to the deep extra cover fence. Australia are 5/0 after the first over.
17:19 hrs IST: WICKET! Shami top-edges the slog and somehow, Alex Carey takes the catch but only just. India are all out for 255. This is a decent total but India will have to up their A game if they are to keep this Australian batting line-up quiet.
