Shikhar Dhawan Ruled Out Of India's T20 Series Against West Indies Due To Knee Injury

Opener Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from India squad for the upcoming T20 series against West Indies due to knee injury. According to the BCCI, Sanju Samson will replace Dhawan. Sanju Samson was left out of the T20I squad after not even making an appearance in the recently concluded T20I series versus Bangladesh.

Originally, the Indian team was scheduled to play three Twenty 20 Internationals against the West Indies with the series-opener in Mumbai on December 6 followed by matches in Thiruvananthapuram (December 8) and Hyderabad (December 11). However, now, the BCCI has swapped the dates between Mumbai and Hyderabad. The BCCI swapped the dates of India's T20 Internationals against West Indies with Mumbai hosting the third game on December 11 and the December 6 opener going to Hyderabad.

The Mumbai Police had expressed inability to provide security as the city would be on a high alert on December 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition and also the "Mahaparinirvan Din" of BR Ambedkar. Now with the change, the series opener of the three-match T20 series would be played in Hyderabad, while the last match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium.

Earlier on November 21, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the Indian squad for the T20 and ODI series against West Indies. According to the squad announced by the board, Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes a return after recovering from a back injury whereas in-form speedster Mohammed Shami is also back in the shortest format of the game.

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma has not been rested for the limited-overs series.
