Sourav Ganguly has assured the full support to Virat Kohli and players of the Indian cricket team.

New Delhi:

Sourav Ganguly, the new BCCI president, has already laid out his agenda following the end of the Annual General Meeting at the Indian cricket board headquarters in Mumbai. After clearing the air on MS Dhoni's future in the team, Ganguly outlined his strategy of how he will deal with Virat Kohli and members of the Indian cricket team starting from Thursday. In a press conference that took place after the end of the AGM, Ganguly outlined how his working relationship with Kohli will be.

"Virat Kohli is the most important man in Indian cricket, we will listen to him. Mutual respect will be there, opinions will be there. I will speak to him tomorrow. He is the captain of the team and the most important man in Indian cricket. We are here to make their life easier," Ganguly said.

It will be interesting to see how Ganguly handles the team dynamics, having cleared the air about MS Dhoni's future and reiterating that a discussion was needed in order to determine what the captain and selectors wanted.

Low attendances in cricket

Following the end of the Ranchi Test against South Africa in which India won by an innings and 202, Virat Kohli had spoken a very interesting thing about the need to arrest the trend of low attendances in Tests particularly in Ranchi and Pune. "In my opinion, we should have 5 strong Test centres. In Test cricket, teams coming into India should know that they are going to play at these 5 centres, these are the pitches and crowds to expect. It can't be sporadic and spread over so many places. We should have five strong Test centres where the team coming to India knows that this is where we're going to play and nowhere else," Kohli stated.

However, Ganguly has had a different vision when it comes to Test matches. "Day-night Test is the way forward. Every country has to play day-night Test, that's a long-term future for Test cricket. They (India) are a good side, they will win day-night Test matches also. There is no difference in day-night Test matches and day Tests. It's just a different ball. They are such class players, they can win," Ganguly said.
