Tendulkar congratulates India for winning World Cup for Blind

Except For Their Initial Match Against Pakistan, India Won All Their Games In The League, In Which Other Participating Countries Were Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh, England And Hosts South Africa.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has congratulated the Indian visually impaired cricket team for winning the World Cup for Blind by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan.  In reply to Pakistan’s 389 in their allotted 40 overs,

India reached 392 with two balls to spare in the final of the Cricket World Cup for blind in Cape Town yesterday.

“Congratulations to Indian Visually Impaired Cricket team on winning the World Cup. Should inspire the potential world beaters in the country,” Tendulkar wrote on his twitter handle today.

Except for their initial match against Pakistan, India won all their games in the league, in which other participating countries were Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh, England and hosts South Africa.

The Indian team comprised 17 players and three officials.  The number of visually challenged cricketers in India are 22,000, far more compared to the 4,000 in Pakistan and 200 in South Africa.

After winning the trophy, Indian captain Shekar Naik said the team was elated at having won despite the great odds and lack of support from the BCCI.
