Another win, another record for Virat Kohli. If he has not contributed with the bat, then he contributes as captain. After the win against South Africa, Kohli had 13 series wins as skipper and he broke the record of MS Dhoni. He is now the most successful captain in the history of Indian cricket and during the Test match against Bangladesh in Indore, Kohli achieved the perfect 10 as Indian skipper thanks to the heavy margin of defeat for Bangladesh at the Holkar stadium. The innings and 130-run win at the Holkar stadium was Kohli's 10th innings win as a skipper of the Indian team.

Following his ascension as full-time skipper in 2015, Kohli has been in sublime form with the bat and his captaincy has taken India to great heights. Kohli's first innings win as skipper came in the West Indies in 2016 at North Sound, Antigua in a match where he smashed a double century. In the same year, India won by an innings in the fourth Test at Mumbai against England with Kohli scoring yet another double ton, this time a 235. In the final Test against at Chennai, Kohli secured back-to-back innings wins following Ravindra Jadeja's sensational 11-wicket haul.

In 2017, Kohli secured his second overseas win as captain when India defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo and he followed it up with a massive innings and 171 run-win in Pallekele as India completed the tourwash against Sri Lanka, which is a cleansweep across all formats. When Sri Lanka toured India, the visitors were thrashed by an innings and 239 runs in Nagpur in a match where Kohli and Rohit Sharma struck centuries. In 2018, Kohli secured his biggest win in terms of innings when India mauled the West Indies by an innings and 272 runs in the Rajkot Test.

In the 2019 series, India totally dominated against South Africa. The skipper led from the front with a record breaking knock of 254 as India won in Pune by an innings and 137 runs while India clinched an innings and 202-run win in Ranchi. The match was notable for Rohit Sharma scoring his maiden double ton as India whitewashed South Africa for the first time. With Kohli's win in Indore, he has now broken MS Dhoni's record of most innings wins as captain and once again, he has established himself as one of the best captains in the modern era.
