New Delhi:

The Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 CRPF soliders were killed, has shaken India. There is anger towards Pakistan and there are condolences pouring in for the soldiers and their families. Amidst all this, former India opener Virender Sehwag has undertaken a wonderful initiative which will gladden the hearts of 130 crore Indians. On his Twitter handle, Sehwag announced that he was going to sponsor the education for the children of the CRPF soldiers who were killed in his international school in Jhajjhar. Sehwag said, “Nothing we can do will be enough, but the least I can do is offer to take complete care of the education of the children of our brave CRPF jawans martyred in #Pulwama in my Sehwag International School @SehwagSchool , Jhajjar. Saubhagya hoga”

A total of 40 CRPF jawans were killed and dozens of others injured after an SUV with 350 kg of explosives hit a bus carrying the personnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday. The vehicle was blown up by an improvised explosive device or IED explosion on Srinagar-Jammu highway in the Awantipora area of the district. After 2016 Uri terror attack, this is considered to be the deadliest terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir in nearly two decades.

Players like Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan offered their condolences to the families of the CRPF personnel who were killed. Saina Nehwal, India’s ace badminton player, was joined by wrestlers like Sushil Kumar, Babita Phogat and Geeta Phogat in expressing their condolences and praying for the soul of the 42 CRPF personnel. Yogeshwar Dutt retweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweet which said, “Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly.”

Gambhir, who retired from all forms of cricket in December 2018 and has been vocal on plenty of issues ever since, lashed out at the separatists in Kashmir. “Yes, let’s talk with the separatists. Yes, let’s talk with Pakistan. But this time conversation can’t be on the table, it has to be in a battle ground. Enough is enough,” Gambhir lashed out on his Twitter handle.

The country is bidding a tearful farewell to the bravehearts of the Pulwama terror attack in their native places. The bodies of the soldiers reached Delhi's Palam air force area in a special Indian Air Force (IAF) plane on Friday evening. The bodies were received by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respects to the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the terror attack.
