London:

Arsenal brushed aside a spirited Queens Park Rangers side 2-1 at Loftus Road in a fourth consecutive Premier League win and maintain their top-four place in the table.

Following a goalless first-half, forward Oliver Giroud put Arsenal ahead in the 64th minute from a close range before star striker Alexis Sanchez doubled the lead five minutes later.

However, QPR displayed power-packed performance in the first-half and tried to provide some resistance in the form of Charlie Austin , who struck a late stunner with eight minutes left.

Reflecting on his team's performance, manager Arsene Wenger said that QPR gave everything and they needed to be patient and resilient because in the first 25 minutes they stopped them from playing, adding that in the second half it was all them, the BBC reported.

Arsenal are third in the points table, four points behind second-placed Manchester City.
