Former Kerala Santhosh Trophy player R Dhanarajan died after collapsing during a seven-sided match at Perinthalmanna Nehru Stadium in Malappuram district in Kerala on Sunday at 9 PM.
The incident occurred when he was playing for FC Perinthalmanna and the first half was about to end when Dhanarajan told the referee that he was having chest pain.
Suddenly, he collapsed on the ground and was instantly rushed to Moulana hospital. He died within an hour. He was 39 years old. He also was the captain of Mohammedans in Federation Cup held in Manjeri in 2014.
He had also played for leading clubs like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
