A French woman has accused star Brazilian footballer Neymar of raping her at a hotel in Paris, according to media reports. Neymar’s father, who also happens to be his agent, has rebutted the charges and termed them as attempted blackmail.
As per a report published in GloboEsporte websites, the woman has filed a complaint against Neymar at Sao Paolo police station. In the complaint, the woman has accused the star striker of using violence to have sex with her without her consent.
The woman, who didn’t disclose her identity, is a resident of Brazil and reportedly met Neymar through Instagram. They both started exchanging messages and Neymar invited him to visit him at a hotel in Paris, the report said.
According to the complaint filed before the police, Neymar was apparently “intoxicated” when he arrived at the hotel and the two chatted and exchanged "caresses". "He became aggressive and used violence to have sex with the victim without her consent," the complaint said.
However, in an interview with Brazilian broadcaster Bandeirantes, Neymar’s father categorically denied the allegations. He said, “This is not true, he has never committed any crime…. We have all the evidence and we already gave everything to the lawyers.”
He said that his son, Neymar and the woman went on a date, but Neymar didn’t want to meet her again and since then, the woman was trying to extort money from him.
"My son can be accused of many things, but I know what kind of man he is ... it's clear that this was a trap," he said, adding that the he was ready to make public the WhatsApp messages Neymar exchanged with the woman.
