Wellington:
Teenaged South Korea-born New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko has been hailed as ‘Pre-Ko-cious’ after she won the Australian Open on Sunday and now eyes the New Zealand Open title.
Ko reinforced her status as the world’s best women’s golfer with a two-shot victory in Melbourne and has now switched her attention to Christchurch.
Ko’s effort has been hailed as ‘Pre-Ko-cious’ by the Golf Channel in the United States, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The Golf Channel stated that of a child having developed certain abilities or proclivities at an earlier age than usual, it pretty much sums up 17-year-old Lydia Ko.
The elite golf magazine labelled her effort as a ‘One-derful story: World No 1 Ko wins in Oz’.
The Golf Channel said that while other players had wilted under the pressures of being world number one, Ko seemed oblivious to that.
