HIGHLIGHTS
    • India has defeated Australia and South Africa in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
    • Three matches have been washed out in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
    • England is hosting the World Cup for the fifth time.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is one of the most important cricketing events. The tournament, which is currently being held in England, is followed by millions of people on social media. Sundar Pichai, Google's Indian-American CEO has predicted which teams will clash in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and said he was "rooting" for the men in blue to emerge victoriously. Describing himself as a passionate cricket fan, the 46-year-old head of California-based internet giant said that when he came to the US, he found baseball a bit challenging. Speaking to a Washington audience that included US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and top corporate executives from India and the US during the India Ideas Summit of USIBC wherein he received the Global Leadership Award, Pichai outlined who would play the final.

“It (ICC Cricket World Cup final match) should be (between) England and India. But, you know, Australia and New Zealand, these are all very, very good teams. It (ICC Cricket World Cup final match) should be (between) England and India. But, you know, Australia and New Zealand, these are all very, very good teams. In cricket when you run, you always take your bat with you. So I also ran between the base with my bat as well. So eventually, I realised baseball was a bit difficult. I can adjust to many things, but I'm going to stick to cricket. There is a cricket World Cup going on. It's a wonderful tournament... rooting for India to do well. But there's a lot at stake here,” Pichai said.

The rain has played havoc in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with three games getting washed out. The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka clash and Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh clash in Bristol have all been washed out due to the rain. In fact, even a toss could not take place and this became the first World Cup in which two games were washed out without a ball being bowled. The South Africa vs West Indies clash in Southampton was also washed out but 7.3 overs were bowled in the Proteas innings.

New Zealand is currently on top of the table while India is in the third spot. Looking at the weather situation, things could remain the same but fans would be hoping that the rain gods have mercy and allow the match between India and New Zealand to take place.
