Kings XI Punjab have chosen to bowl against Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni's side have made no changes. Shane Watson departed cheaply but Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina blasted fifties and shared a brilliant partnership of over 100 to put Chennai Super Kings on top. Raina smashed his 38th fifty and Faf du Plessis neared his maiden century but Kings XI Punjab fought back in the death overs. Sam Curran picked up three wickets and Mohammed Shami took two wickets as Chennai Super Kings reached 170/5. In response, KL Rahul blasted a fifty off just 19 balls and shared a partnership of over 100 with Chris Gayle helped Kings XI Punjab beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets to end their IPL 2019 campaign on a high. Sam Curran thumps a boundary and Kings XI Punjab have defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets to end their campaign on a high. So, Royal Challengers Bangalore will finish in eighth spot and end with the wooden spoon for the second time.

Chennai Super Kings get a consolation wicket. Ravindra Jadeja fires a quicker ball outside off, Pooran goes for the cut and edges it to Dhoni.

Nicholas Pooran blasts a four and a six off Imran Tahir as Kings XI Punjab need just eight runs in four overs. So, Kings XI Punjab almost end their season on a high. So, the fourth spot all boils down to the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede.

Nicholas Pooran is dropped by Murali Vijay but Kedar Jadhav has injured his shoulder and is walking off. One hopes he is ok.

Harbhajan Singh takes his third wicket as Mayank Agarwal pulls a short ball straight to long leg for 7. Chennai Super Kings are fighting back here.

The doosra from Harbhajan Singh and KL Rahul dances down the track and attemps the lofted shot, miscues it high and the catch is taken. In the very next ball, Chris Gayle holes out to long on and he is on a hat-trick.

After a slow start from Gayle, he blasts two sixes and a four off Imran Tahir as he begins to unwind. Kings XI Punjab continue to make rapid progress.

4,4,4,6,6. Brilliant batting from KL Rahul and he notches up his 16th fifty in the IPL. Sublime batting as Harbhajan Singh is taken to the cleaners. The 50-run stand is up in just the fourth over. Simply a treat to watch.

Faf du Plessis misses out on a hundred as Sam Curran takes three wickets. However, Mohammed Shami bowls an excellent last over and he takes two wickets as Chennai Super Kings reach 170/5 at the end of 20 overs. Can Kings XI Punjab chase this total down?

Oh dear! No hundred for Du Plessis. After hammering a six, Curran fires the yorker on leg stump and du Plessis is late in getting the bat down, the ball hits his pads and clips the off stump.

The bouncer, which has always been Raina's weakness, consumes him again. Short and slow bouncer from Sam Curran, Raina mistimes the pull and finds Shami at short fine leg

4,4,6. Du Plessis is on song and Andrew Tye is being taken to the cleaners. Chennai Super Kings are eyeing a massive total and Kings XI Punjab are getting totally deflated here.

Suresh Raina ends up smashing his 38th fifty and du Plessis launches Ashwin to the long on fence. Kings XI Punjab are getting hurt here.

Suresh Raina, you beauty! Pulls Murugan Ashwin to the deep midwicket fence and he brings up his 38th fifty. Faf du Plessis and Raina are both taking Kings XI Punjab to the sword.

Faf du Plessis nudges Murugan Ashwin to the deep midwicket region as he reaches his 11th fifty. Chennai Super Kings are in a great position against Kings XI Punjab.

Two more boundaries by Murugan Ashwin by Faf du Plessis and he nears his fifty. This is superb batting from the Chennai Super Kings stalwart.

Du Plessis and Raina come closer to their fifties and Andrew Tye concedes 12 runs in his first over. Superb stuff from the duo at the half-way stage.

Raina launches yet another six off Harpreet Brar and Chennai Super Kings are in a position of strength.

Suresh Raina is showing his class. Flighted delivery from Harpreet Brar and from round the wicket, Raina dances down the track and deposits it over long on for a big six. He then steers Ravichandran Ashwin to the third man fence.

Shane Watson's struggles continues. The offcutter from Curran and Watson looks to guide it down to third man but the ball knocks the off stump out of the ground.

Du Plessis finds another boundary as he effortlessly pushes Sam Curran down the ground for a boundary. This is the ideal start for Chennai Super Kings.

Mohammed Shami also begins poorly. A half-volley on the pads and Faf du Plessis clips it to the deep square leg region for a boundary.

Shane Watson gets going with a boundary off ;eft-arm orthodox bowler Harpreet Brar. He slashes the cut to the deep backward point.

Thus Kings XI Punjab continue their system of changes. In 14 games, they have never played with the same playing XI for two consecutive games.
