Rio de Janeiro:

Indian Men’s Hockey Team today goes up against Ireland in Rio Olympics 2016. The first match in Group B started at 7:30 pm India’s time.  

India have sent their largest ever contingent – 118 athletes – to an Olympic event. India’s search for Gold has begun right after the opening ceremony at the Marcana Stadium today.

Hockey updates: 

India vs Ireland (3-2) in fourth quarter.

3rd goal: India has hit third goal against Ireland minutes after the rival team hit their maiden goal in the Olympics. India still leads by 3-2 with 11:15 second left in the fourth quarter.  

2nd Goal: Indian men's hockey team has amanged to maintain the lead after second quarter by scoring another goal. In an incredible play by Indian side, Rupinder gave India the second goal near the end of first half. 

Ist Goal: India took the lead with Raghunath striking a goal from the penalty corner.

Earlier, Ireland had managed to deny India in first penalty corner of the match. They had the opportunity but even a ball squeezed between the GK's pads couldn't get the 1st quarter opener.

India requested a referral for a 2nd PC, ball hitting an Irish defenders leg and they get the second penalty corner.
