Entire India went jubilant on Friday night as Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returned home after being held captive by Pakistan for 58 hours, since crossing the border in the air strikes that took place on February 27. Imran Khan, Pakistan prime minister termed this as a peace gesture. As the whole of India welcomed back its son, the badminton talismanic players like PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal took to Twitter to thank the brave heart for his selfless service towards the country.

The sources had said that he will cross the border by early afternoon but after all the formalities, he was finally able to arrive home through the gates at the Attari-Wagah border at 9.30 pm. There was then a long delay in the process, with the whole country waiting for his arrival since 8:00 am in the morning.

The wait was finally over late in the day and Abhinandan's arrival received a huge cheer from the crowd situated at the Wagah border. As every Indian held his/her head high with pride, Saina, Sindhu and Srikanth lauded the soldier's grit and determination.
