Top-seeded male shuttler Kidambi Srikanth proved his mantle in the domestic arena by overcoming a spirited challenge from sixteen year-old Lakshya Sen to secure a berth in the men's singles finals of the National Badminton Championships.
Kidambi Srikanth shall be locking horns against a formidable opponent in HS Prannoy. Srikanth was taken to the distance by his younger opponent but managed to keep control of his attack and push Sen towards the backcourt.
Despite the loss, it was a brave show by 16-year-old Sen. Meanwhile HS Prannoy booked his place in the title clash after defeating Subhankar Dey 21-14, 21-17.
In the women's section, Saina Nehwal thrashed Anura Prabhudesai 21-11, 21-10 in just 30 minutes to storm into the women's singles final. It was a match where Saina relied on smashes and attacking strokes from the mid-court to unsettle Anura.
