The championship which commenced in Ghaziabad on Saturday, shows the substandard facilities provided to the differently-abled athletes.
The sorry state of affairs was revealed after a participating athlete spoke to ANI, “The facilities are a complete mess; we are facing difficulty in using washrooms and bathrooms, lack of water ,no fans, lot of mosquitoes.â€
He added that they have been there for 3 days but the authorities have failed to provide them even accommodation.
However, Sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal immediately ordered a probe into the case.
Over 700 differently-abled athletes are participating in the championship, which are being held at the Weightlifting Auditorium in Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium Complex and Janhit Para Sports Grounds (Madhuban, Bapudham) in Ghaziabad respectively.
