New Delhi:

The junior Indian tennis players will have a chance to earn wild card entry into the French Open junior championships as AITA in collaboration with the French Tennis Federation (FFT) has launched a new initiative, called Rendez-Vous.

As per the programme, the Rendez-Vous a Roland-Garros competition will be held at the Delhi Gymkhana Club, where 16 top Indian junior boys and girls (under-18) will compete next month for the finale in Paris.

In the finale, winners of similar competitions in Brazil and China will compete against each other and the champion will get wild card entry into Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the season.

FFT has extended this programme to India and Brazil after the successful launch of the tournament in China last year.

Jean Gachassin, FFT President said, “I welcome the recent partnership between Roland-Garros and the All India Tennis Association. It is a real bridge between two countries which share identical passions and goals: developing tennis on clay courts. I am truly delighted by all the opportunities offered by this cooperation.”
