Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp -- three major social networking sites -- are down across the globe, including India. Users on Twitter on Sunday are complaining that they are unable to use the social media networking platforms. While Facebook and Instagram are both inaccessible, WhatsApp messages aren’t being sent or received. Users of Facebook’s main services have taken to Twitter to share that they are facing the problem.
One user writes: "Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp DOWN. I feel handless."
Another posted: "FacebookDown - seems to be fairly catastrophic. Can't even load the page to log in."
One Twitter user joked that it was time to relax now that the social media sites are down: "Seems like all socials owned by Zuckie are down.... #whatsappdown #FacebookDown time to relax?"
The outage comes exactly a month after Facebook went down for almost a full day across parts of North America and Europe on March 14. At the time, the social network had said the outages, which affected users and advertisers worldwide, resulted from a “server configuration change”, news agency Associated Press had reported. Some media outlets had branded the outage — which also affected Instagram as well as Messenger — as the biggest in Facebook's history.
