Social networking platform Facebook and image sharing platform Instagram were down on Tuesday for several minutes and users were unable to access their accounts apparently because of a technical problem.
The users faced problems while logging to their homepages on both the sites and took to twitter to express their anguish over the problem. The users of both the platforms were really annoyed because on New Year's Eve, Facebook-owned instant messaging app, WhastApp, too was down and people could not send or receive messages.
The Facebook page, when loading, read “Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
Many Facebook and Instagram users took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the problem.

The technical glitch for the unresponsiveness of both the sites is yet unknown.
