New Delhi:

Ever wondered why the download speed are so slow when you need some file to be downloaded urgently. People have often tried to find out the best time to download their favourite file but could not determine the perfect time and settled with slow download speed. Now, as per a report by OpenSignal, it is reported that India’s 4G download speeds are nearly 4.5 times faster at night. OpenSignal is known for tracking internet speeds globally and the company took out this report by measuring 4G download speeds in 20 largest Indian cities.

As per the OpenSignal’s report, users experience ‘widely different’ 4G speeds at different hour of the day and the daily average LTE download speed has even dropped to 2.8 mpbs in busy hours.

As per the research, talking about individual cities, Navi Mumbai scored the highest of 8.1 Mbps in average LTE download speeds, while Allahabad came last with an average of 4.0 Mbps. The daily average for Allahabad was also lower at 2 Mbps.

As the speed drops significantly during the busy hours, the average download speed increases by 10.3 mbps during the less busy hours.

The city which recorded the highest 4G download speed is Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

Statistics concluded by OpenSignal also showed that “by comparing each city’s average worst versus best hourly speed, they found that smartphone users can experience 4G download speeds three to seven times faster by connecting to the network at a different time’’.

“All the cities show a similar trend with download speeds tending to decrease over the course of the day, reaching the slowest speed in the late evening at 10 pm. The hourly results show clearly that the time of the day, and consequently the proportion of smartphone users that are likely to connect to the network, explain a big part of the difference in experience’’, says OpenSignal.

The report also reveals that the network congestion is one of the main reasons 4G users in India experience such slow average download speeds.

During the daytime, huge number of 4G handsets which are connected to internet are hampering capacity of networks which leads to poor browsing experience.
