New Delhi:

Facebook-owned photo-sharing and messaging app Instagram has launched a new design to its story options. In the new design, all the camera options have been categorised in three parts – Live, Camera and Create. Earlier, there used to be a semi-circular selector veal design with eight camera options.

Under the Live option in the new design, users can use Augmented Reality (AR) filters in semi-circular format. In the camera option, hands-free, forward, super jump and boomerang options are given in the left side, while AR filter option is given in the right side.

Some features such as Tap to Type, Ask me a question, Polls, and Countdown has been shifted to the Create option. Earlier, these features were accessible in the stickers menu.

The new design was first tested in March this year. Instagram reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong had tweeted that the new design user-interface, the photo-sharing app was working on, was based on the Mechanical Circular Mode Switcher (MCMS) in DSLR.

"Instagram is working on the new 'Stories' user-interface, which is based on the Mechanical Circular Mode Switcher in DSLR,” she had said.

Launched in October 2010 exclusively on iOS by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, Instagram is a popular social-networking site among millennials in India and abroad. As of May 2019, Instagram has over 1 billion registered users.

In April 2012, barely two years after its launch, social media giant Facebook acquired the company in a whopping USD 1 billion deal in cash and stocks.
