Finnish multinational company HMD Global finally launched India's first Android Oreo Go Edition-powered smartphone Nokia 1 on Monday.
"We understand the barriers and challenges people face when it comes to stepping up to a smartphone which is where the Nokia 1 fits in perfectly," Ajey Mehta, Vice President India, HMD Global, said in a statement.
"This our most affordable smartphone ever and it delivers exceptional value and realises our dream of creating a complete smartphone experience that is accessible to everyone," Mehta added.
The budget smartphone, priced at Rs 5,499 will be available at all leading mobile phone outlets across India. Nokia 1 is set to go on sale from March 28.
Nokia 1, which has a striking resemblance to the Nokia 3310, runs the latest Android Oreo (Go edition), a version of Android for devices with 1GB RAM or less. The new smartphone will be available in a variety of colour option like red and dark blue.
Much to the delight of customers, HMD Global will also launch Xpress On covers and the colour options available in those covers are azure and grey or yellow and pink. The Xpress On covers, available for Rs 450, will give a makeover to your much-loved device.
Besides that, users are free to enjoy Rs 2200 cashback from Jio, which will make the effective price Rs 3,299. Additionally, Jio customers will get 60GB of free data as part of the Nokia 1 launch deal.
Talking about the features, Nokia 1 comes pre-loaded with Go edition versions of all key Google apps such as Gmail, Google Assistant Go, Google Files Go, Google Maps Go and YouTube Go.
In terms of specifications, Nokia 1 features a 4.50-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution. The affordable smartphone houses a quad-core processor along with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. The device sports a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.
On the connectivity front, the brand-new device offers 4G connectivity, dual SIM and microSD slot. Nokia 1 is powered with a 2,150 mAh battery and it is a removable one.
