PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite are currently the most popular battle royale online games competing with each other on various gaming consoles. Initially, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, popularly known as PUBG sued Fortnite developers accusing them of stealing ideas from their game. However, some gamers still believe that Fortnite may have stolen the idea from PUBG.
PUBG has been developed by Tencent Games for smartphones and Bluehole company for PC and Xbox while Fortnite is developed by Epic Games for all platforms. Being lot of similarities between the two games, let us now talk about some of the difference between Fortnite and PUBG.
Availability – Fortnite was launched for PC, Microsoft Xbox and PlayStation 4 all together but PUBG was originally launched on PC only. Now, PUBG is available on Xbox One, iOS and Android and soon will also be available for sale from December 7.
Gameplay – The makers of PUBG has designed the game to be more realistic than Fortnite. The gun mechanics, movements, the map, and graphics are considered better than the Fortnite. Fortnite has whole mechanic involving building and destroying buildings which is not present in PUBG. Fortnite has been give more cartoonish-type look including guns, graphics and animation.
Crossplay- With Fortnite, gamers can play with other players on other platforms while PUBG does not support cross-play and the players of particular platform will only be able to play of same platform.
Maps – Fortnite has just one map while PUBG has three maps, Miramar, Erangel and Sanhok. The makers are expected to launch another map ‘Vikendi’ soon.
It will be interesting to see after the makers of PUBG finally will launch the game on biggest gaming console, PS4 and how the makers of Fortnite does to counter it.
