New Delhi :

Whatsapp for Android has introduced an interesting feature called the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) for all users. The feature, having hit the floors in beta back in October, is catching up to Android users through WhatsApp stable version 2.18.30. Through this advancement, users will be able to watch Instagram, Facebook and YouTube videos in a small window and continue to scroll through WhatsApp chats simultaneously. The new update which has been recently brought to all Android users was running an identical experience on WhatsApp for iPhone users since January 2018.

The feature to stream Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram simultaneously while chatting works for both, individual and group chats.

All you need to enable the Picture-in-Picture feature is to download the latest WhatsApp for Android from Google Play. Android blog GoAndroid first spotted the feature in WhatsApp for Android version 2.18.380.

Earlier in this month, WhatsApp launched its first-ever Television campaign as part of its efforts to address the challenge of misinformation and fake rumours in India.

“It has conducted extensive research with users in India and then developed three ad films that are based on a real user’s experience,” WhatsApp said in a statement.

“The three films will be available on TV, Facebook, and YouTube in nine languages and reach the diverse population that makes up WhatsApp users. The campaign is timed to start just prior to the elections in Rajasthan and Telangana and WhatsApp will build on this effort headed into the national election next year,” the statement added.

The app-based messenger, after facing flaks for misuse of its platform, has made a series of changes, including labeling forwarded messages to inform users when they have received something, not from their immediate contact and set a limit on how the forwarded messages can be sent.
