New Delhi:

Recently, there were rumours that the popular messaging app WhatsApp may introduce the much-anticipated Dark Mode. As per WABetaInfo, a fan site has revealed the concept image of the Dark Mode feature where the background can be seen completely dark while the chat and other content are in white colour. However, the image of the concept featuring WhatsApp Dark Mode was sent to WABetaInfo by one of its followers. It is expected to save some amount of battery on your smartphones, especially with OLED displays. Apart from this, it is also expected that the concept Dark Mode will be useful and will help in using Whatsapp during night, as it would be less stressful for the users in low light conditions.

The concept of WhatsApp Dark mode will be rolled out for both Android and iOS users. Some reports even surfaced which reveals that Google may also be working in launching the Dark Mode for its apps and services.

Google already has a dark mode for some of its apps including YouTube, Messages and Chrome. And, as per some reports, Google may be working on bring a dark mode for its Google Asisstant.

Google has finally confirmed that dark mode on Android phones uses less power and saves battery life. The Dark mode changes the overall colour theme of an operating system or apps to the colour black.

Recently, Facebook-owned mobile messaging platform WhatsApp has announced it was restricting how many times any given message can be forwarded in an effort to boost privacy and security. In July, WhatsApp rolled out safeguards in India that included limiting the number of users to whom a message can be forwarded. It also ran newspaper ads to raise awareness about fake news.

That decision followed threats by the Indian government to take action after crazed mobs butchered more than 20 people accused of child kidnapping and other crimes in viral, widely-circulated WhatsApp messages. WhatsApp said its latest move to extend the restrictions to all users came after a six-month review of user feedback.
