Within eight months of time since the launch of Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite, Xiaomi has now come up with its next generation, Redmi Y2.
The new Redmi Y2 is available for sale at a starting price of Rs 9,999 with the top variant available at Rs 12,999
The main attraction of the handset is its AI-enabled dual camera setup at the back and a good quality camera lens for selfies along with a LED flash.
The smartphone is amongst the biggest handset which Xiaomi has to offer. The back of Redmi Y2 cover is quite similar to Redmi Note 5 with power button and volume being on the same side which is the right side.
Apart from AI-powered dual camera lens, there is not much features in Redmi Y2 to be wooed about.
Redmi Y2 comes with a 5.99-inch HD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 720x1440 pixels. The phone is powered with an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC processor along. The handset will be available in two variants 3GB with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of inbuilt storage.
On the camera front, Redmi Y2 has a dual camera setup at the back with 12MP and 5MP camera lens and a 16-megapixel selfie camera along with a Led flash to capture good images in low light.
Low-light shots need a steady hand, as the camera reduces its shutter speed to capture more light.
Redmi Y2 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The handset is a dual-SIM phone with two Nano-Sim slots and supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G VoLTE.
The smartphone is fuelled by a 3080 mAh battery which can run all day long.
Review: The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is a budget smartphone under Rs 10,000 with AI-powered camera feature in the rear camera. There is not much special feature apart from AI but it is a very handy buy for the buyers who are looking to buy good camera phone at an economical price.
