Huawei on Thursday launched its much-anticipated smartwatch, the Watch GT 2, in India. This comes months after the company launched its successor Watch GT. The biggest attraction of the Huawei Watch GT2 is that it comes with 2 weeks of battery life after one charge, supports Bluetooth calling, in-device music and capacity to store and play 500 songs. It will have a Super AMOLED display with a 3D glass screen.
The watch is equipped with Huawei’s proprietary Kirin A1 Chipset to improve on battery life. The Kirin A1 chipset integrates an advanced Bluetooth processing unit, a powerful audio processing unit, an ultra-low power consumption application processor and a separate power management unit. In daily use, the Huawei Watch GT-2 can operate continuously for up to two weeks with both the intelligent heart rate monitor and call notification functions.
For Huawei Consumer Business Group, the launch is just the first step in bringing the Kirin A1 to India. The Kirin A1 Chipset will help Huawei further its footprint in India’s wearable segment down the road.
The upcoming Huawei Watch GT-2 is compatible with 15 sports including eight outdoor sports (running, walking, climbing, hiking trail running, cycling, open water, triathlon) and seven indoor sports (walking, running, cycling, swimming pool, free training, elliptical machine, rowing machine). In terms of heart rate monitoring, the user will be notified if the heart rate is above 100bpm or below 50bpm for more than 10 minutes. The watch is also powered with a sleep monitoring function.
“Huawei has always been at the forefront of groundbreaking technology innovation at the doorstep of our customers.
