Redmi 8 was recently launched in India. The key features on Redmi 8 include a waterdrop-style display notch, dual rear camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery, among others. On the competition front in India, the entry-level phone is up against Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and HTC Wildfire X. News Nation brings to you the comparison between Redmi 8, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and HTC Wildfire X on the basis of specifications, features and price.  

Redmi 8 

Redmi 8 sports a 6.22-inch HD+ Dot Notch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. 

The smartphone supports dual-SIM (Nano) technology and runs Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. 

On the imaging front, Redmi 8 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup that houses a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel camera sensor at the front. 

The dual rear camera setup is preloaded AI Portrait and AI Scene Detection features. The phone is also touted to recognise 33 scene categories, including six India-specific categories. Also, there is artificial intelligence (AI) powered features, including Face Unlock. Further, the phone has a fingerprint sensor at the back.  

Redmi 8 has 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB) with a dedicated slot. 

Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, infrared, wireless FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. 

The entry-level smartphone comes with a new Aura Mirror Design at the back. Redmi 8 packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. 

The price for Redmi 8 in India has been set at Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant. On the other hand, the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of Redmi 8 costs Rs 8,999. However, for the first five million units, the device with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is available with an introductory price of Rs 7,999. 

Redmi 8 is available in Oynx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue colour options. It also has a splash-resistant P2i coating on top. 

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 features a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) IPS Full View display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The dual-SIM (Nano) Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, paired with Adreno 509 GPU and up to 6GB RAM.  

The device also has up to 64GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card. 

On the imagining front, the smartphone comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup. The 3GB and 4GB RAM versions of the smartphone carry a 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.2 lens and a 5-megapixel depth-sensing secondary image sensor, while the 6GB RAM variant comes with 16-megapixel primary shooter in place of the 13-megapixel shooter. On the front, it houses a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies.  

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery and a rear fingerprint sensor. 

The 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant of the phone costs Rs Rs 7,999, the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant can be purchased at Rs 8,999 and the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant can be grabbed at Rs 11,999.  

HTC Wildfire X 

HTC Wildfire X features a 6.22-inch HD+ (720x1520 pixels) HD+ IPS display with the waterdrop-style notch. 

The dual-SIM (Nano) HTC Wildfire X runs Android 9 Pie and is powered by an octa-core SoC, mated with 3GB and 4GB RAM options. 

It comes with 32GB and 128GB of onboard storage options and both the variants are expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). 

On the imagining front, the newly-launched smartphone comes equipped with a triple rear camera that houses a 12-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel secondary shooter and a 5-megapixel tertiary, depth sensor. The back camera also supports 8x hybrid zoom and is paired with a dual-tone LED flash. On the front, HTC Wildfire X sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera. 

Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 

HTC Wildfire X also comes with an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. The smartphone has a fingerprint sensor at the back. 

It packs a 3,300mAh battery that supports 10W charging. The device measures 156.7x74.9x7.95mm. 

The base 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant of HTC Wildfire X price in India costs Rs 9,999. The price of 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of HTC Wildfire X has been set at Rs 12,999.

The smartphone is available only in Sapphire Blue colour option.
