New Delhi:

Facebook owned messaging application WhatsApp is currently is available for both smartphones and desktops. Well, you all must be aware that WhatsApp keeps rolling out new features. Recently, News Nation reported that WhatsApp is working on improving the chat User Interface with the introduction of album and grouped stickers. And now, WhatsApp has come with another update. Yes, you read it right. The latest update for WhatsApp beta on Android now shows “WhatsApp from Facebook” branding.

It is worth mentioning here that Facebook had first introduced this update on Instagram. Similar to WhatsApp, Instagram also now shows “Instagram from Facebook”. WhatsApp from Facebook is visible at the bottom of the Settings menu on the app.

Earlier this year, Facebook said it would merge WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger for a cross-platform messaging system. WhatsApp and Instagram also lost its founders and the apps moved under the control of Facebook execs. Facebook is bringing some changes to its apps like the introduction of ads on WhatsApp.

Importantly, Facebook doesn't stand much to gain by putting its name on the apps. It's already a household name, and one that has become associated with privacy scandals.

This comes a few days after the WhatsApp made available to fingerprint lock feature for Android beta users. When the Fingerprint lock feature is enabled, it would let people use fingerprint to open WhatsApp. Users can even hide content from notifications of WhatsApp. However, users would still be able to answer calls even when WhatsApp is locked.

To enable this feature in your app, you need to so to the WhatsApp Settings>Account>Privacy>Fingerprint lock. Just turn on the toggle in front of that and it will prompt you to verify it. With this feature, you only have to unlock it when you open the app, otherwise, you can attend the WhatsApp calls without unlocking the app. You can still reply to the WhatsApp messages from notification without actually entering the app.

Users will also have an option to choose when they want to use the fingerprint lock feature. It means if you unlock the app via fingerprint every time you need to reply to a message, then that can be annoying for some. So you can choose from three options —Immediately, after 1 minute or after 30 minutes. If you choose "Immediately", you will have to unlock the app every time you open it. iOS users will also have an additional option of 15 minutes. Another advantage that you will get with this feature is that you can decide if want the WhatsApp messages to show n the notification bar or not.
