BMC announces Rs 1,200 core per year aid for BEST buses

Newly appointed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi has decided that the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) budget allocation will now be Rs 1,200 crore per year i.e. around Rs 100 crore per month. BEST is incurring monthly losses of Rs 81 crore and owes Rs 1,800 crores in loan to financial institutions and private power generators.
