PM Modi honours five 'Safai Karmacharis', by washing their feet

In an unusual gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured five 'Safai Karmacharis', by washing their feet as per ancient tradition in Prayagraj. The Prime Minister attended an event Swachh Kumbh, Swachh Aabhaar’ programme at Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. While speaking at the event, he said, “The country is moving towards declaring itself open-defecation free before 2 October 2019. I believe that you 'swacchagrahi' of Prayagraj have come forward as an inspiration for the entire nation.”
