Uttar Pradesh: IAF rescues people stranded in Jhansi island

The Indian Air Force on Friday evacuated eight people stranded on an island of the Betwa river which was swelling at an alarming rate in Jhansi. The eight villagers who had gone to catch fish in Betwa river got stranded in flash flood. In the afternoon the water level in the river suddenly increased due to continuous heavy rains and as a result, they got stuck. Continuous rains have played havoc in Jhansi and in nearby areas for past 18 hours.
