Polar Vortex triggers state of EMERGENCY in US, death toll rises to 12

Record breaking cold with temperature colder than Antartica grappled several parts of the United States as a polar vortex swept over the country and claimed 12 lives. Arctic winds caused the weather to plunge to life-threatening temperatures and forced cities in the region to shut down.
