After video of Bengaluru molestation case created an outrage across the globe, now a new video has surfaced on Facebook and Youtube that stirred the issue of women safety and security.
An online 'kissing prank' by a young Youtuber ‘The Crazy Sumit’ got too far. The individual posted a video on Youtube and Facebook in which he can be seeing kissing random girls walking in and around Connaught Place, New Delhi and running away.
Desired to fetch the maximum likes, shares and subscribe this social media youngster committed sexual assault. His ‘kissing prank’ drew flak from viewers as they raised concerns of women security and how prone women’s modesty are to such attacks.
Taking the cognizance of the video, Delhi Police is likely to file a case under IT Act and IPC. Two offences (a) molestation (b) uploading such a video is a contravention of IT Act could be initiated against him. Joint Commissioner of Police, Depender Pathak said ," Delhi Police is aware of such a vulgar video doing rounds on social media. Cyber cell is looking into the technical aspects of the case. Criminal aspect of the case is being looked into. We are in touch with social media and Internet service provider. If the victim wants to file a separate case, she would be allowed to. This is a criminal offence, it is a 'perversion' and we know desire to get more hits is linked to profit."
This is not the first case of cheap publicity by this young Youtuber, earlier also he made controversial videos.
'The Crazy Sumit' who is most likely in his early 20s had a camera and filmed the entire shoot. He then posted it on Youtube. He has over 1.5 lakh active subscribers on his Youtube channel.
Though the video has now been removed for violating YouTube’s policy on harassment and bullying, but sensing the public backlash against his such act of disgrace, ‘The Crazy Sumit’ has also posted an apology video. Wherein he is seen asking for an apology from his viewers and saying that he didn’t wish to insult any section of the society and also promises that in future no such content would be posted by him.
“I never knew the kissing and running prank will go so viral and have such a bad impact. I really apologize, never wanted to hurt anyone. It was just shot for entertainment purposes. I respect women and I would never do anything like that again,” Sumit pleaded in a video message.
