Now Nepali nationals require Visa to enter India? Read Here

As Per The Existing Rule, A Nepali Entering India By Land Or Air Direct From Nepal Does Not Require A Passport Or Visa, But Required To Be In Possession An Identity Card Establishing His/her Identity As A Nepalese Citizen.

New Delhi:

In a new development, the Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi on Saturday issued a notice, directing that from now on Nepalese nationals need to carry a Visa if they are entering India from Pakistan, China, Hong Kong and Macau. There are 4 million Nepalese working and studying in India, according to a data released by the Nepal foreign ministry.

In a similar headway, Nepalese nationals travelling to Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Lebanon, are required to acquire No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the respective Nepalese Embassies, the notice stated.

To get the NOC, a traveller need to submit an application to the respective embassy along with relevant documents, including employment permit, it added.

As per the existing rule, a Nepali entering India by land or air direct from Nepal does not require a passport or Visa, but required to be in possession an identity card establishing his/her identity as a Nepalese citizen. However, a citizen of Nepal is generally asked for Passport when entering India from a place other than Nepal.

The ID documents which are considered valid include Nepalese Passport, Nepalese Citizenship Certificate, Voter’s Identification Card issued by the Election Commission of Nepal and the Limited Validity photo-identity certificate issued by Nepalese Missions in India when deemed necessary.

For children between age group of 10-18, who are travelling with their parents, photo ID issued by the Principal of the School, are considered as valid travel documents.
