A huge explosion was heard in the Swedish capital of Stockholm on Wednesday morning. Several buildings have been damaged in Vallingby including a hotel. However, the cause of the blast is yet to be known – although it is not being treated as suspicious, the Daily Star reported. The police said that five people had been injured with two taken to hospital. “There was a loud bang and a screaming sound,” a witness reportedly said. The police have been on the scene since 5 am local time with forensic scientists and bomb experts investigating.
Horrified witnesses say they were woken up around 1am local time as the explosion rattled their windows and doors. Thick black smoke could be seen billowing over Stockholm this morning as cops launch a probe to establish the cause of the explosion. Police say it caused significant damage to cars, homes and businesses in the area but they are not yet treating it as a crime, The Sun reported.
