Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was trolled online for calling his political rival and chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto ‘Sahiba’.
While addressing to the public in South Waziristan on Wednesday, Imran Khan called Bilawal Zardari, ‘Bilawal Sahiba’. A video clip of Imran Khan’s speech is also going viral on the internet. In the video, you can see Imran Khan’s supporters can be seen cheering loudly as soon as the remark was made.
It is to be noted that calling Bilawal as ‘Bilawal Bhutto Sahiba’ was the Pakistani PM’s attempt of showing his rival in inferior light. However, it stoked a huge controversy as Twitterati slammed the PM for being sexist in the speech.
Take a look:
OMG!! dear @ImranKhanPTI .. our leader Bilawal Bhutto is a man but by calling a man a woman do u intend to Insult women or the man? Do u think women are inferior so u can use them 2 demean men? Also y r u so interested in what’s in ppl’s pants whn their brain is better thn yours? https://t.co/blHk6LOJrX— meena gabeena (@gabeeno) April 24, 2019
So you choose to insult @BBhuttoZardari by calling him 'sahiba'. Is that what womanhood means to you? Dont forget that you used a woman's name to beg for charity and make your hospital.
You @ImranKhanPTI are a small small man. Intahai chotay insaan ho tum— Saadi-fy (@theironicirony) April 24, 2019
The spin that can't be spun 🤦♀️ https://t.co/lqPMQAo3eF— Zebunnisa Burki (@zburki) April 24, 2019
Very, very small. Calling Bilawal Bhutto Sahiba (madam) doesn’t belittle him at all. It just demonstrates Imran Khan’s lowness, indecency, and sexism. An insult to the office of the PM.April 24, 2019
Poor and misogynist statement by pm against @BBhuttoZardari calling him sahiba . We don’t expect this kind of language from anyone and off course PM— Asma Shirazi (@asmashirazi) April 24, 2019
Interestingly, this was the second day in a row when Imran Khan became a subject of ridicule on Twitter as he said Japan and Germany share the same border.
While addressing a joint press conference with Iran President Hassan Rouhani, Imran Khan had said, "Germany and Japan killed millions of civilians until second world war when they decided to have joint industries on the border area. Now there is no question of them having bad relations because their economic interests are tied together."
In no time, the video found its way across social media platforms and Imran Khan was mercilessly trolled over his geographical knowledge. Trollers were quick to point out that while Japan is an island country in East Asia, Germany is in Central Europe.
In addition to it, Twitterati also pointed out that this isn't the first time that Imran Khan has made a factually incorrect statement. Last Year, he was trolled for labelling Africa as an 'emerging country'.
Born on 5 October 1952, the Cricketer-turned-politician became Prime Minister of Pakistan on last year. He is also the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Previously, Imran Khan was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2013 to 2018.
